Making Money Work

At Lima Accountancy we like to stay up-to-date with all the current industry news in the accounting and taxation sectors. This helps us to be more aware of pressing issues or events that could potentially affect our customers.

One recent piece of news that is particularly concerning is that it has been revealed that HMRC has failed to answer 10% of calls to its tax help line. This shockingly high figure means that 1 in 10 people of business owners who have tried to receive help from HMRC have been let down.

HMRC has since come under scrutiny after a report revealed that, of 43 million phone calls over the last 4 years, 4 million were not successfully connected to a HMRC helpline advisor. Despite an improvement in the number of unanswered calls with wait times and number of complaints increasing.

On average, the members of the public were left on hold for 3 minutes 47 seconds, while monthly complaints rose from 5,427 to 6,162 over the same period, with 14% of customers waiting over ten minutes.

The tax agency recently outlined new performance objectives to improve their service, but the figures show it has taken 30 seconds longer for its staff to answer the phone than the same time last year.

If you are a small or medium-sized business owner, dealing with your taxes can be a complicated issue, especially, if this process is lengthened by difficulties in getting in hold of the right advisor. Save you and your business time by outsourcing your tax to a professional.
