Lima Accountancy’s team of experienced accountants provide a range of accounting and bookkeeping services to new start-up businesses across Yorkshire and the North of England.
As a result, we were very pleased to see the news that Britain’s technology industry is booming for new start-up companies. The sector is reportedly experiencing a big increase, despite entrepreneurship seeming to slow down in the UK across other trades.
A report from Companies House has revealed that, in fact, there were fewer new businesses launched last year than there were in 2016, but there are more new technology firms than ever before. Figures show that the number of new UK tech companies that were established last year rose by 60%.
Further stats released state that a total of 10,016 software development and programming companies were launched in the UK, which equates to a 59% increase from 2016.
London accounts for many of the new business start-ups in the UK – across most sectors – so technology enterprises are no different. The number of new, London-based, tech businesses rose to 4,238 this year, which marked a huge increase of 76%. Furthermore, the wider South East saw a 40% rise in new technology companies, growing to 1,296.
These tech trends are nationwide, with a 29% jump in technology start-ups based in the North West of England year on year, with 707 new firms launched last year.
