Recent figures released by the HM Revenue & Customs show that 92.5% of January’s tax self-assessments were submitted online.

The tax authority HMRC has adapted to the modern times and embraced digital technology in order to be more efficient. By moving online, it has been made as easy as possible for the UK taxpayers to submit their tax assessments.
The peak times of the self-assessment submissions were between 4PM to 5PM on 31st January deadline, with figures showing that 17 tax returns were being submitted every second during this period. 9.9 million of all the tax returns submitted were submitted online, equating to 92.5%.
The number of online submissions has been increasing year on year as it is becoming the easiest and simplest form for the majority of UK taxpayers. Just like any other types of business, utilising technology has allowed the HMRC to better achieve its goals.
In total, the HMRC receives close to £575 billion worth of revenue per year. Taxation is an essential part of the British economy and is a much-needed resource for public sector funding. Furthermore, submitting your taxes is a legal requirement and valuable contribution to society as a whole.
